On February 19, 2025, the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu, organized an Awareness and Quality Planting Material (QPM) Distribution Program at Balan Village in Dewal Block, Chamoli District. The primary objective of this initiative was to educate local farmers about the various aspects of lavender cultivation, including its numerous advantages, essential cultivation techniques, and the significant economic benefits it offers. The program witnessed the participation of over 20 farmers who gained valuable insights into the potential of lavender farming as a lucrative and sustainable agricultural practice. During the awareness session, experts shared detailed knowledge about the benefits of growing lavender, emphasizing its role in enhancing farmers’ income and promoting environmentally friendly farming methods. Following the informative session, a Quality Planting Material (QPM) distribution program was conducted, wherein a total of 28,000 lavender plants were distributed among 20 farmers hailing from different locations across the district. This initiative is expected to encourage the widespread adoption of lavender cultivation in the region, ultimately contributing to improved livelihoods for farmers and fostering sustainable agricultural practices in Chamoli District.
