CSIR-IIIM

On August 11, 2024, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) organized a training-cum-awareness program at Bonda, Bangra, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, under the CSIR Aroma Mission-III. The event, focused on “Catalyzing Rural Empowerment through Cultivation, Processing, Value Addition, and Marketing of Aromatic Crops,” saw the active participation of 88 farmers from the region.
The program aimed to empower these farmers by providing comprehensive training on the cultivation and processing of aromatic crops, which hold significant potential for enhancing rural livelihoods. The CSIR-IIIM experts covered essential topics such as selecting the right aromatic crops for local conditions, implementing best practices in cultivation, and employing advanced processing techniques to add value to the produce.
Moreover, the training also highlighted the importance of effective marketing strategies to ensure that farmers can successfully commercialize their aromatic crops. The participants were informed about the various support mechanisms available under the CSIR Aroma Mission, including access to quality planting materials, technical assistance, and market linkages.
The program concluded with an interactive session, allowing farmers to engage with experts, clarify doubts, and share their experiences. This initiative is a crucial part of CSIR’s broader mission to drive rural development and economic growth through the promotion of aromatic crops, which can play a transformative role in the agricultural landscape of the region.
