On 14 March 2026, under the Aroma Mission Phase‑III of CSIR–Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu, QPM rosemary plants were successfully distributed among farmers in Chamoli District, Uttarakhand. The distribution programme aimed to promote the cultivation of aromatic crops and enhance livelihood opportunities for farmers in the region.
The programme covered a total of five villages, including one village from Deval Block and four villages from Tharali Block. During the activity, 70,000 QPM rosemary plants were distributed among 55 farmers, covering a total cultivation area of approximately 5 hectares. The initiative is expected to encourage farmers to adopt rosemary cultivation as a high-value aromatic crop.
Farmers actively participated in the programme and showed strong interest in the cultivation of aromatic plants. This initiative by CSIR-IIIM Jammu under the Aroma Mission is expected to support diversification in agriculture and improve farmers’ income through the production of aromatic crops and essential oils in the Himalayan region.
