CSIR-IIIM, JAMMU
On October 5, 2025, under the CSIR-IIIM Jammu Aroma Mission phase-III, a farmer training program was successfully organized at Gram Panchayat Balan, Block Dewal, District Chamoli, Uttarakhand. The training focused on promoting the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants such as rosemary, Lavender, and other high-value crops suitable for the region’s climate and soil conditions.
Experts from CSIR-IIIM Jammu guided the farmers on scientific farming techniques, processing methods, and industrial linkages to enhance income opportunities. The participants were also informed about the economic advantages, employment generation potential, and sustainable agriculture practices associated with these aromatic crops.
The Farmers showed keen interest and actively participated in discussions and demonstrations. The event proved to be highly beneficial in creating awareness about aromatic crop cultivation, encouraging rural entrepreneurship, and strengthening the mission’s vision of is improving farmer’s livelihoods through the Aroma Mission initiative.
