CSIR-IIIM, JAMMU

On 20th September 2025, under the CSIR-IIIM Jammu Aroma Mission Phase-III, awareness cum training program was organized in Village Kalouta of Almora district, Uttarakhand. The program focused on the promotion of medicinal and aromatic plants such as Rosemary and Lavender, which have significant potential in improving rural livelihoods.

During the programe, farmers were provided with detailed knowledge about the cultivation practices, management techniques, and processing methods related to these high-value crops. Experts from CSIR-IIIM highlighted the importance of scientific farming methods, quality planting material, and sustainable practices to maximize productivity and maintain soil health.

The session also emphasized the industrial potential and economic benefits associated with these crops. Farmers were informed about various opportunities in value addition, market linkage, and entrepreneurship development, enabling them to increase their income. Such initiatives are expected to empower local farmers, reduce migration, and contribute to the overall growth of the aroma-based agro-economy in the region.
