CSIR-IIIM, JAMMU
The CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu, successfully conducted an awareness program under Aroma Mission Phase III on 20 September, 2025, at Nanoli Village, Block Dhauladevi in District Almora, Uttarakhand. The program was designed to educate and empower farmers with practical knowledge and advanced skills for cultivating aromatic plants, known for their significant economic and environmental benefits.
Over 20 participants including 5 women took part in the program with great enthusiasm. The training mainly aimed at raising awareness about the benefits of growing and processing medicinal and aromatic plants like rosemary, lavender, and other valuable crops. Experts highlighted that with proper propagation, these crops can create new avenues for rural entrepreneurship, boost the local economy, and connect farmers to the expanding domestic and global markets. The program aimed to empower local representatives with this knowledge so they could share reliable information with farmers. Through this approach, farmers would be encouraged to follow scientific cultivation methods, connect with markets, and make well-informed choices, ultimately supporting the effective implementation of the mission’s goals at the grassroots level.
