CSIR-IIIM,JAMMU

During the second week of February, a total of 133,000 QPM lavender plants were successfully distributed to a total of 99 farmers across different villages under Aroma Mission Phase 3 of CSIR-IIIM Jammu. The plantation and distribution activities covered an area of 9.5 hectares, marking a significant step toward the promotion of aromatic crop cultivation in the region.

The lavender plants were distributed across eight villages in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. Among these, three villages fall under Block Tharali, four villages under Block Deval, and one village under Block Gairsain.

This initiative aims to promote lavender cultivation, enhance farmers’ income, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities through the expansion of aromatic and medicinal plant farming. By providing high-quality planting material, the program continues to strengthen rural development and encourage farmers to adopt high-value crops for improved economic returns.
