On September 6, 2025, the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu, conducted Awareness cum Quality Planting Material (QPM) Distribution Program at Tikamgarh District, Madhya Pradesh. This initiative aimed to educate local farmers about the potential of lemongrass & rosagrass cultivation and provide them with the knowledge and resources needed to adopt this lucrative agricultural practice.
The program focused on key aspects of lemongrass & rosagrass farming, including its benefits, essential cultivation techniques, and economic potential. A total of 35 farmers actively participated, learning how lemongrass & Rosagrass cultivation can serve as a sustainable and profitable alternative. Agricultural experts guided the farmers on ideal growing conditions, harvesting techniques, and market prospects for lemongrass & rosagrass and its by-products.
Following the awareness session, a QPM distribution event was held, where 3.5 lakh lemongrass and 1.6 lakhs of rosagrass high-quality plants were distributed among farmers from different parts of the district. This initiative is expected to boost lavender farming, support agricultural diversification, improve farmers’ income, and promote environmentally sustainable practices. By undertaking this program, IIIM, Jammu, is making a significant contribution to strengthening rural livelihoods and fostering sustainable agricultural growth in the Tikamgarh region.
