Team Aroma made a significant impact in the Hindaun and Bharatpur districts of Rajasthan, actively promoting the cultivation of Ocimum (basil) under the CSIR Aroma Mission Phase III. This initiative aims to support farmers by introducing them to profitable and sustainable agricultural practices.
Highlights of the Program:
- Field Visits: Team Aroma visited Ocimum-growing farmer fields, offering guidance on best practices to improve crop yields and quality.
- Training and Awareness Program: A one-day training session was held at Sewar village, Bharatpur district, with over 60 farmers participating. The session provided essential knowledge on the cultivation of basil and its benefits.
- Seed Distribution: To support farmers, 8 kg of improved basil seeds were distributed free of charge to interested participants, empowering them to start or expand their basil cultivation.
- Dr. Siya Ram Meena shared valuable tips on best practices for basil cultivation, ensuring that farmers can optimize their farming techniques for higher productivity and sustainability.
- Yogesh Kumar Sharma spoke about the latest innovations in modern agriculture, helping farmers adopt cutting-edge methods for better farming outcomes.
- Both experts also discussed the significance of basil in religious and spiritual ceremonies, highlighting its cultural importance and market demand.
