Two-Day Training and Awareness Program on Aromatic Crops Held at Sirikurd & Devari village, District Gariaband, Chhattisgarh on 12-12-2024 & 13-12-2024. Under the CSIR-Aroma Mission Phase III, a two-day training cum awareness program was successfully conducted focusing on empowering farmers with sustainable agricultural practices. The program was attended by more than 70 farmers including a women self help group comprising 22 women farmers, who were trained in the scientific cultivation of aromatic crops, diversification in farming, and modern oil distillation methods. The event emphasized the economic and ecological benefits of aromatic crops, particularly Rosagrass and Lemongrass.
During this session participants were briefed the CSIR-Aroma Mission and cultivating medicinal and aromatic plants, especially Lemongrss, Rosagrass and Mentha. The team explained good agricultural practices and income generation from Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and their Post-harvest applications.
ON 13 December, team visited village Devari to assess the performance of lemongrass and Rosagrass crop cultivated by farmers from the cluster established in the previous year. During the visit, team monitored the survivability and growth of crop planted during the kharif season and advised the farmers to fill gap in the crop and maintain standard plant population.
The training aimed to enhance rural livelihoods by promoting sustainable agriculture and increasing awareness about aromatic crop cultivation. This initiative aligns with the CSIR-Aroma Mission’s goal of transforming agriculture and empowering communities.
