CSIR-IIIM
On August 10, 2024, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) organized a training-cum-awareness program in Niwari, Madhya Pradesh, as part of the CSIR Aroma Mission-III. The program was designed to catalyze rural empowerment by focusing on the cultivation, processing, value addition, and marketing of aromatic crops.
The event attracted a large number of local farmers, who were keen to learn about the opportunities that aromatic crops can offer. Experts from CSIR-IIIM provided in-depth training on various aspects of aromatic crop cultivation, including the selection of appropriate crops for the region, best practices in cultivation, and advanced processing techniques that can enhance the value of the harvested crops.
In addition to cultivation and processing, the program also emphasized the importance of effective marketing strategies to ensure that farmers can maximize their income from these crops. The participants were introduced to various market linkages and support systems available under the CSIR Aroma Mission, including access to high-quality planting materials and ongoing technical guidance.
The training session concluded with an interactive discussion, where farmers had the opportunity to raise their questions and concerns. This initiative is a testament to CSIR-IIIM’s commitment to fostering rural development and economic growth through the strategic use of aromatic crops, which have the potential to transform the livelihoods of farming communities in the region.
