On August 9, 2024, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) organized a training-cum-awareness program at Pawa, Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh. The event, conducted under the CSIR Aroma Mission-III, focused on “Catalyzing Rural Empowerment through Cultivation, Processing, Value Addition, and Marketing of Aromatic Crops.”
The program aimed to empower local farmers by introducing them to the economic opportunities associated with aromatic crops. The training covered a wide range of topics, including the selection of suitable aromatic plants, cultivation techniques, processing methods, value addition, and marketing strategies. The CSIR-IIIM experts highlighted the importance of these crops in enhancing rural livelihoods and promoting sustainable agriculture.
The event was attended by a significant number of farmers, all eager to explore the benefits of integrating aromatic crops into their farming practices. The participants received guidance on accessing quality planting materials, obtaining technical support, and establishing market linkages, all of which are crucial for successful cultivation and commercialization.
This initiative is a vital component of CSIR’s broader efforts to drive rural development and economic growth by harnessing the potential of aromatic crops. Through such programs, CSIR-IIIM continues to play a pivotal role in empowering rural communities across India.
