Awareness program organized at Kishtwar on 19.04.2018

CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) Jammu organized a one day awareness-cum-training programme on dated 19.04.2018 on the cultivation, processing and marketing of aromatic plants in the around 400 growers and agro-entrepreneurs participated.

 

The programme was organized under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) Aroma Mission under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Ram Vishwakarma, Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu to provide innovative technology solutions to the growers and agro-entrepreneurs.

 

The CSIR-Scientific faculty and technologists gave the overall profile, works and the mission of the CSIR. They also informed the participants that these crops are cost and labour effective which need low input cost besides minimum labour compared to the traditional plants and also assured the farmers of full marketing support. They briefed the farmers on the objectives and guidelines of the mission. The Aroma Mission has been launched to boost cultivation of aromatic crops like aromatic grasses, Jammu monarda, Mentha species, Ocimum species, Lavender, Rosemary, Salvia and Geranium. The cultivation of nine crops can be propagated in the unutilized rainfed lands.
