The CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu, organized an Awareness and Quality Planting Material (QPM) Distribution Program On February 20, 2025,at Dhar PayaKoti, Kaljikhal Block, Tehri Garhwal District, Uttarakhand. The primary objective of this initiative was to educate local farmers on the potential of lavender cultivation and equip them with the necessary knowledge and resources to adopt this profitable agricultural practice.
The program covered various aspects of lavender farming, including its advantages, essential cultivation techniques, and economic benefits. A total of 12 farmers actively participated in the event, gaining insights into how lavender cultivation could serve as a sustainable and alternative source of income. Experts provided detailed guidance on optimal growing conditions, harvesting methods, and market opportunities for lavender and its by-products.
As part of the program, a QPM distribution session was conducted, during which 14,000 high-quality lavender plants were distributed among 12 farmers from different areas of the district. This initiative aims to
promote lavender farming, support agricultural diversification, enhance farmers’ income, and encourage eco-friendly farming practices.
Through this effort, IIIM, Jammu, is playing a crucial role in enhancing rural livelihoods and fostering sustainable agricultural development in the Tehri Garhwal region.
