On February 20, 2025, the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu, conducted an Awareness and Quality Planting Material (QPM) Distribution Program at Sartoli Village, Thalisain Block, Pauri Garhwal District, Uttarakhand. This initiative aimed to educate local farmers about the potential of lavender cultivation and provide them with the knowledge and resources needed to adopt this lucrative agricultural practice.
The program focused on key aspects of lavender farming, including its benefits, essential cultivation techniques, and economic potential. A total of 12 farmers actively participated, learning how lavender cultivation can serve as a sustainable and profitable alternative. Agricultural experts guided the farmers on ideal growing conditions, harvesting techniques, and market prospects for lavender and its by-products.
Following the awareness session, a QPM distribution event was held, where 14,000 high-quality lavender plants were distributed among 12 farmers from different parts of the district. This initiative is expected to boost lavender farming, support agricultural diversification, improve farmers’ income, and promote environmentally sustainable practices.
By undertaking this program, IIIM, Jammu, is making a significant contribution to strengthening rural livelihoods and fostering sustainable agricultural growth in the Pauri Garhwal region.
